The annual West Australian Top 100 Red tasting by Ray Jordan was released last week. The Hay Shed Hill camp managed not one but an impressive three wines in this list. See the reviews below
2017 Kerrigan + Berry Shiraz | 95/100
A slightly old-world style of modern Australian Shiraz if you get my drift. It's from a coolish vintage and the result is a wine with spices and savoury influences working with a little chocolate and dried herb complexity. Perfectly balanced with a sustained finish. This is a class act.
2018 Pitchfork Shiraz | 92/100
One of the best examples of this variety in the under $20 area. Intense cherry and plum fruit with hints of spice and black pepper strike immediately. Cleverly balanced. Exceptional value here.
2018 Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Merlot | 91/100
Classic medium-bodied blend that captures so much about the region. Floral leafy notes with a trace of plummy blackcurrant. The palate is medium bodied with fine chalky tannins and a sliver of oak in support. Great all-purpose wine.
There’s a lot to love about cabernet franc, which is stepping out of its long-held supporting role and into the limelight.
