James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2016

Each November James Halliday selects his TOP 100 Wines of the year.  Last November we were thrilled to open the paper to see that we had received two wines in his Top 100 plus another two in his 'Best of the Rest'  mentions.

KERRIGAN + BERRY SHIRAZ - 97 Points

Fragrant black fruits, spices, licorice and a subnote of tar presage a totally distinguished coll palate - in the sense of grapes that have been cool grown in the south of WA and picked at optimal riepness, in turn reflected by the sheer intensity of this wine.

HAY SHED HILL SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON - 95 Points

Pretty close to a perfect example of Margaret River SBS. All of the work has been done in the vineyard, the winery a hands-off zone as varietal fruit, not oak has shaped this wine. Some grassy/pea pod aromas quickly yield to the even flow of the passionfruit, pineapple and guava on the supple palate.
