Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 - 96 Points
Fifty-year-old Margaret River vines deliver a cabernet with deep colour, classy blackcurrant and bay leaf fruit with neatly handled alcohol, fine tannins and a dab of French oak. The value for money is the cream on the cake, as is the way the wine gets better each time you go back to it. Its juicy cassis fruit is faultless.

Hay Shed Hill Block 6 Chardonnay 2023 - 95 Points
This starts out rather fine and flinty with a light spray of citrus. Then it builds on the palate with layers of flavour from the oak, the lees and more fruit intensity. Mouth-watering sulphides, a stony sensation and racy acidity to the finish. Nice one.

2023 Kerrigan + Berry Riesling - 95 points
Fruit off Block 6 from the 50-year-old Langton vineyard in Mt Barker and made simply and bottled early to retain its youthful vivacity and fruit definition accordingly, although this will last some distance. Intense lemon flavours, steely, juicy with electrifying acidity ensuring the finish is long, pure and high.

2022 Kerrigan + Berry Shiraz - 95 points
Shiraz from Frankland River is so distinctive – it shows off a squid ink/ironstone/freshly tilled earth character that’s beguiling. And this also comes with florals, black plums, and an array of spices including Sichuan pepper and cedary oak. Full bodied with densely packed yet pliable tannins and a fine acid line, too. Best of all, while far from shy on the flavour profile, this is wonderfully savoury. More time in bottle would be a good thing; to enjoy now, choose an appropriate food match.

2022 Morrison's Gift Chardonnay - 95 points*
The only difference between this and its vintage sibling is that this included some pressings, which gives rise to a firmer palate, paradoxically crisper, an outcome due to the great quality of the fruit from this celestial vintage. It was a cruel choice to make between the two for James Halliday's Top 100 selection, this of equal merit at its bargain price.

Hay Shed Hill Chardonnay 2022 - 97 Points*
This is a first-class estate chardonnay from a great vintage; created with the best free-run juice, fermented in French barriques and matured thereafter in that oak for 11 months. The richness of the white peach and melon fruit gives rise to a classic each way wine, drink now or over years to come.

2023 Hay Shed Hill Block 1 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc - 91 points
Winemaker Michael Kerrigan always sends an informative note: this his sentimentally favourite off 50-year-old vines with ’23 representing the 17th vintage. The gist is to make it 'minerally rather than fruity, lemony rather than tropical and with a real acid pith', and that has been achieved. Savoury, complex, textural, tight, and if anything, a bit more fruit weight wouldn’t go astray.

2023 Morrison's Gift Chardonnay - 90 points
Such a good wine for the price as it has easy-drinking appeal but a certain level of detail too. White stone fruit, lemon blossom, ginger spice and dried pears, with a fine layer of creamy, luscious lees and the soft acidity rounding everything out neatly.

2021 Hay Shed Hill Block 8 Cabernet Franc - 93 points*
Cabernet franc – just one of the great wines for its ability to blend in (with other like-minded varieties) or stand proudly on its own. There’s a lot to enjoy here, although I’m left wondering if less time in oak would have been better (18 months in French barriques, percentage of new unknown) as there’s a lot of cedary, wood flavour. However, the wine is supple, fuller bodied, with lovely velvety tannins, which do add some grip to the finish. The fruit within is very good, and with food, this comes into its own.
